Terms of Service
Last updated: June 10, 2026
1. The service
Lemma is a collaborative LaTeX editor with an AI companion. It lets you write, compile, and share LaTeX documents in the browser, and offers AI-powered analyses and writing assistance on your drafts. These terms are an agreement between you and Lemma (the operator of the service). By creating an account or using the service, you agree to them.
2. Accounts
You need an account to use Lemma. You are responsible for keeping your credentials secure and for everything that happens under your account. You must provide accurate information and be legally able to enter into this agreement. If you believe your account has been compromised, contact us right away.
3. Acceptable use
Don't use Lemma to do anything illegal, to infringe other people's rights, to distribute malware, or to attempt to disrupt or gain unauthorized access to the service or other users' data. Don't abuse the compile or AI features in ways designed to circumvent reasonable usage limits. We may suspend accounts that violate these rules.
4. Subscriptions and billing
Lemma is a paid service. New accounts get a 7-day free trial with full access; no card is required to start. After the trial, continued use requires a subscription, billed monthly ($14/month) or annually ($117.60/year). Payments are processed by Stripe.
You can cancel anytime through the billing portal in your account. Cancellation stops future renewals; your subscription stays active until the end of the period you already paid for. We do not offer refunds for partial billing periods. Prices may change, but we will notify you before any change affects your subscription.
5. Your content
You retain all rights to the documents and files you create or upload to Lemma. We claim no ownership over your work. You grant us only the limited license needed to store, compile, display, and process your content in order to operate the service for you — including sending document content to our AI provider when you use AI features. You can export your projects at any time.
6. AI features
Lemma's AI features generate suggestions, reviews, and edits using large language models. AI output can be inaccurate, incomplete, or misleading. It is provided as assistance, not as fact: you are responsible for verifying anything the AI produces before relying on it or submitting it anywhere. Your drafts are not used to train AI models (see the Privacy Policy for details).
7. Availability
We work to keep Lemma fast and reliable, but the service is provided "as is" and "as available", without warranties of any kind and without a guaranteed service level. We may modify, suspend, or discontinue features, and downtime may occur. We recommend keeping exports of work you cannot afford to lose.
8. Limitation of liability
To the maximum extent permitted by law, Lemma is not liable for indirect, incidental, special, or consequential damages, or for loss of data, profits, or goodwill arising from your use of the service. Our total liability for any claim is limited to the amount you paid us in the twelve months before the claim arose. Nothing in these terms excludes liability that cannot be excluded by law.
9. Termination
You may stop using Lemma and delete your account at any time from your account settings. We may suspend or terminate accounts that violate these terms, with notice where reasonably possible. Upon termination, your right to use the service ends; see the Privacy Policy for how account data is deleted.
10. Changes to these terms
We may update these terms from time to time. If a change is material, we will notify you by email or in the app before it takes effect. Continuing to use Lemma after a change takes effect means you accept the updated terms.
